2026 is bringing the fire and passion. If everything in your life has seemed dormant for the past few years, fear not. This just may be the year you charge forward with full force. This could be the year when YOU surprise yourself. This could be the year you unleash the version of yourself that changes the direction of your life forever. It doesn't matter if you feel that right now or not. Time will unravel what is destined to emerge. My intention is to help you charge forward in the right direction. If you are frustrated with public health failing the population. If you are tired of not taking your health in your own hands and giving your body the care it deserves, this article is for you! Let's explore 5 ways you can grab your health by the horns and finally seize control of it.
Tip #1 - Figure Out Your Diet

I don't mean to start a diet. That hasn't been effective before, and there are several reasons for that. I want you to evaluate your current eating habits. What do you consume a lot of? What do you not eat enough of? What would you like to have that isn't currently available or affordable for you? What foods make you feel sick every time you eat them? What foods cause bloating or gas? What do you eat that actually makes you feel good, energetic, and happy? These are the questions you should be asking and answering. Write this down somewhere. Now that you have this list, you're going to adjust your diet. Did you notice that dairy and bread upset your stomach? Great! Let's reduce your intake. Do you feel great when you eat fresh fruits and fish? Awesome! Let's have more of those. Does more sugar cause your skin to break out? Okay. Let's cut down on sugar. Do cruciferous vegetables like broccoli give you stomach cramps? No problem! Limit them. You may have food allergies and intolerances that have been ignored. There may be foods that are incredible for your body that you are unaware of. The purpose of this exercise is to determine what works for YOU and YOUR body.
Tip #2 - Prioritize Nutrition
A lot of time is spent running around completing every task under the sun... except eating. This is a bold statement to make, but I believe (I repeat, I believe) that 90% of our health problems (obesity, heart disease, cancers, acne, IBS, common cold, flu, inflammation, etc) could be solved if we prioritized nutrition. Yes, food is comfort. Yes, food is soulful. Yes, food is fun. Food is also healing. Everything we eat contains something; poison or antidote. When you take the time to understand how the body works on a molecular level (I'll save that for another day), you'll see that food is the medicine. No more skipping meals and no more fueling your body with majority poison. Consume the foods that will empower you.

Tip #3 - Bring Back Movement
They say sitting is the new smoking. While that's a wee bit dramatic, I'd have to agree. Life has become so sedentary. Many people spend all day at a desk and others spend all day standing in one spot. As a community, we're deteriorating and barely exceeding 6,000 steps a day. This is leading to stiffness, lack of mobility, hip pain, lower back pain, insulin resistance, weakend muscles, rounded backs, and more. On one hand we have increased the life expectancy and on the other hand we have diminished the quality of that life. Well I say no more! You are not a human machine. You are meant to move, twist, bend, glide, and fully connect with your body. I understand that you have a job to do and bills to pay. My professional recommendation is to be mindful. Stand up and walk around every so often. Practice more movement on your off days. Sign up for a yoga class. Visit the gym for at least 30 minutes two to three times a week even if you only walk the treadmill. If it were life or death (which, it kind of is), you'd make the time for it. Make the time for it BEFORE death begins speeding up towards you. You and your body are worth more than building more corporations and businesses.

Empowering yourself involves taking back control of your body. You've essentially been renting it out for waaay less than it's worth.
Tip #4 - Rebuild Community
A big reason that everyone is stressed, malnourished, struggling to survive, experiencing high anxiety, depression, and more is due to the fact that there is no one around to help. Hyper-independency isn't the flex we've been conditioned to believe it is. In fact, it's what drives more workers. It's also what is driving many people into an early grave. A supportive community does so much for your health. It provides a sense of comfort and relief. It gives you someone to rely on when you're having a hard day. It brings back laughter, fun, and connection. There is a community of people that truly care about you. They'll take a walk with you. They'll cook a meal for you. They'll watch your children while you take a nap, go on a vacation, or run errands. Imagine how much more you'd be able to do for your health if you had reliable, trustworthy, and loving people in your life. Imagine how much money you'd save and how you would no longer need to be in this rat race of a hamster wheel if there was someone who had your back. Community building is only hard because society has made it so... but you can change that, or rather WE can. Don't have friends or family right now? That's okay. Sign up for something. Volunteer. Join a club. Find your community and do not give up when it doesn't happen right away.

Tip #5 - Get to Know Yourself
Believe it or not, the person you are right now might not reflect your true self. You are a product of your caregivers—their beliefs, habits, and lifestyle. You've been told "You're so irresponsible" so often that you've come to accept it as true. You were encouraged to follow a specific career path, get married, and do other things that, deep down, you might not have genuinely wanted. This doesn't mean you're not an amazing person or that there's anything wrong with you. Through self-discovery, you might find that much of your personality truly aligns with who you are. However, it's still valuable to explore this, as you may discover certain aspects that don't. One of the things that can make life fulfilling is the ability to be authentically ourselves. Allow yourself to embrace your true self.
